a true story

On January 22, I welcomed my beautiful baby boy into the world — healthy, happy, and perfect. But just a few days later, everything changed.

On January 26, I was readmitted to the hospital with an unknown infection. Two days after that, I was rushed to the ICU.

I went into septic shock and multiple organ failure. I spent 21 days in an induced coma, 29 days on a ventilator, and had 12 life-saving surgeries, including:

Treatment for abdominal compartment syndrome. Removal of my ovaries, uterus, and gallbladder — all infected by the bacteria.

I nearly died — more than once.

How to swallow.
How to hold my head up.
How to breathe on my own.
How to sit. Stand. Balance. Walk.

After 125 days in the hospital, I finally made it home.
There’s still a long road ahead, but I am so grateful to be alive.

Words will never capture the gratitude I have for the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, physiotherapists — and every single person who helped save my life.

When I finally woke up, I had to re-learn everything:

Clostridium Sordelli is the bacteria that almost took my life.

The bacteria that nearly took my life is called Clostridium Sordellii — a rare, aggressive, and often fatal infection.

I’m not a doctor or infectious disease expert, but here’s what I’ve learned:

It exists naturally in 3–10% of the female population as part of the vaginal flora.

Similar to Staph, it’s harmless unless it enters the body

The strain that infected me was a rare mutation that produces massive amounts of toxins, without any clear signs of infection.

It’s also very slow growing, which made it difficult to detect in time.

In my case, it took a perfect and extremely rare storm for it to enter and infect my reproductive system.

Right now, all of my energy is going into recovery and soaking up every moment with my family.

Because I’m not a medical professional, I won’t be answering any detailed medical questions — but I will be linking the official medical case report and published journal article here once it’s available.

I’m Still Healing.
